Dinara / Vendama

Summary

Vendama and her twin brother Obael were born into an ancient Dres family in Bodrom Mora in 3E 399. Upon the rather suspicious deaths of their parents, Vendama and her brother together took over the rule of the land. Interested in ending the traditional slavery of their land, but worried about the repercussions, they eagerly joined Dres Minsero in his inspection of the new ruler of Ald Raathim, a territory where slavery had been outlawed for some time.

Thus, was Vendama first introduced to Loranna.

Many months later, while King Helseth seemed to be dying, Vendama entered into an agreement with his mother Barenziah to marry him. She made good on her promise on his recovery, and took the name Dinara during the wedding ceremony.

While Dinara has stood by her husband during the Civil War, it is no secret her heart is in Bodrom Mora, her ancestral land which was taken by the Indoril, together with her brother Obael, who is still being held prisoner there.

It is suggested that it was the abolitionist streak in Dinara that inspired Helseth to end slavery, though his pro-Imperial sensibilities and his interest in destabilizing the Redoran and Indoril Houses’ finances were doubtless factors as well. It also appears to many that Barenziah is overgrooming Dinara in her image: they even have been known to have worn the same gown on occasion.

What cannot be denied is that Dinara’s beauty and charm is as valuable an asset to her belligerent husband as her Dres connections. And, as strange as it may be to any on the outside, it seems that the marriage of state has turned into a marriage of love on both sides.
